First Snow

The first big snow came last week! We got a couple snowfalls already, but the ground wasn't cold enough to for it to stick. The difference between reactions to it here and in NC/SC are so interesting to me, people here are pretty much unfazed by it and continue on with business as usual. I'm just thankful I managed not to fall on ice. There's more in the forecast for tomorrow, and next week... I'm excited! I can't believe how close the end of the semester is, so I'm trying to make a list of everything I want to do and see in my remaining time here. Enjoy these snow pictures, definitely more to come.

The clouds and fog in the right side of the background are where the skyline should be.

Climate Strike + Waterfall + Baseball

I was so busy last weekend I didn't have time to post! Here's some pictures from events and places I went to! Last Friday I joined in the Global Climate Strike in St. Paul organized by Minnesota Youth Climate Strike. Thousands of people marched to the capital building to hear high schoolers and other activists leading the climate action and environmental justice movement. It was so empowering! A group of NSE students took a trip to Minnehaha Falls Parks which is only 20 minutes outside of downtown. Twins Game at Target Field (they won!) This was their last weekend of home games before post-season, so I'm glad I made it out to one with my roommate Tatiana! Saturday - I went Honey crisp apple picking with family at Aamodt's Apple Farm in Stillwater, MN!

Homecoming Week

The first week in October was homecoming, during which I went from having zero to three U of M t-shirts for the price of $0. Amazing! There was a lot of fun programming on campus, here's some pictures from what I attended! A few weeks into the semester I joined Minnesotap, the student-run tap company on campus. The group and performs at a variety of campus and local events. Our second performance was in the homecoming parade, dancing down the street and giving out candy. The parade was definitely my favorite part of the week because of all the school spirit. Dozens of student and community organizations participated, and so many students and families came to watch; it was a lot bigger than I expected! A rainy day for the homecoming football game, but I went nonetheless! I must admit I didn't stay until the end, though. They played Illinois and won, improving their record to 5-0!  I also participated in the campus blood drive that week. (not pictured for obvi...

Twins! in the Twin Cities

My sister's fall break at NC State was last week, so she came up to visit for 4 days. It was so great to see her, and we packed in as much site-seeing (and eating) as possible. The mid-October snow flurries didn't stop us! First stop: Mall of America (obviously) Lake Nokomis Sushi! Rice Park, Landmark Center, and St. Paul's riverfront Mill City Museum - 10/10 would recommend! The Guthrie Theater Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
